Let’s Talk About It: Pelvic Health for Men

A man stands at the edge of a lake at dusk
“We’ve learned that we’re all made of the same parts, organized in different ways—no two alike.”
(Shout out to Emily Nagoski for that perfect line.)
Men have pelvic floors too, and they can experience many of the same issues often assumed to affect only women: pelvic pain, urinary urgency or frequency, constipation, erectile difficulties, pain with anal sex, and pain with ejaculation or orgasm.
Cisgender men make up a large portion of my practice, and over the years I’ve noticed a few common themes in their experiences.

Men with Pelvic Health Concerns Often Feel Isolated

When a man develops pelvic pain, he may withdraw to his home, his “safe zone,” avoiding social connection, partners, or activities he once enjoyed.
Sometimes I’m the first person to hear that he has pain with sex — not even his partner knows.
Men are often conditioned not to talk about health struggles with friends, spouses, or even their doctors. By the time many reach me, they’ve been suffering for years and are feeling discouraged or hopeless.
At Groove, you’ll find a space where you’re not alone. We’ll start wherever you are and move forward together.

Men Often Feel Shame About Having a Problem

Concerns about erectile function or sexual performance can take a deep toll on self-esteem. Even men who see themselves as emotionally aware or progressive can feel that something “wrong” with their penis calls their masculinity into question. That internal conflict often brings shame and silence.
At Groove, we work to shift that story. You’ll be met with compassion and validation, never judgment. Then, using evidence-based physical therapy and whole-person counseling, we’ll address the physical and emotional components so you can return to sex that feels good and authentic for you.

Men Are Highly Motivated to Heal

Once we understand what’s happening, I’ve found my cis male clients to be some of my most dedicated and motivated patients. When they have clear direction and support, they commit fully to doing the work.
At Groove, we’ll identify the root cause of your symptoms and create an individualized plan to help you return to the life, and pleasure,  you want.

You Deserve Support

If you’re experiencing pelvic pain, sexual health concerns, or urinary or bowel changes, you don’t have to keep it to yourself. At Groove Pelvic Health & Wellness, you’ll find compassion, expertise, and a plan that honors your body and your goals.
